About the Politics Lab
Archbishop Oscar Romero was a human rights advocate who, in 1980, was assassinated for speaking against the mass killings of civilians in the Salvadorian civil war. In the spirit and memory of Archbishop Romero, the Romero Lab at the University of Notre Dame conducts research to advance knowledge on the geographic and historical dimensions of social problems afflicting the poor.
The Mission of the Romero Lab is to:
Train students in data management, data visualization, mapping, and archive digitalization
Publish journal articles and books with public policy implications
Raise awareness of social problems afflicting the poor through partnerships with governments, NGOs, and community members.
